NRA Personal Protection in the Home
Short Description: This 15-hour course (plus the BIT course) teaches how to become an NRA Instructor. We teach the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching the NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course.
Prerequisite: Must be an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. Prior to the course, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
Description: Course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Basics Of Personal Protection In The Home Instructor Candidate Packet, and NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course student packet.
Equipment Required:

Ear and Eye protection (electronic muffs preferred)

Shoes – comfortable with sufficient support to permit a full range of motion. No sandals or flip-flops.

Semi-Automatic Pistol or Revolver with at least 100 rounds of factory ammunition. NO RELOADS

At least two functional magazines (semi-autos) or speed-loaders (revolvers)

Comfortable clothing, knee-pads (optional) and foot wear suitable for training outdoors.
PLEASE NOTE: Certs are issued by the NRA training department, therefore there is also additional certification and processing fees payable to the NRA.
**This is a 2-Day Course with BIT 1 day without** You must have completed and be Certified to teach NRA Basic Pistol course along with having successfully completed the Personal Protection in The Home Student Course and pass the prequalification test in order to take this Certification Course. You also must have had Basic Instructor Training within the last 2 years if the BIT is not included in this course.
Please remember NRA Instructor Courses are performance based courses, Instructor Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for this level of training. You do not pay and automatically pass Instructor training. You pay for the opportunity to pass.

All Instructor Certification courses require the candidate to have satisfactorily completed the Basic Instructor Trainin course sometime in the last 2 years. The BIT course is an additional 6 hours and $60. If this is a refresher BIT course, there is no cost.
Certificates of course completion will be awarded.

All NRA classes taught through Stoneridge Tactical have been designed, built, and developed in accordance with the NRA, and NRA Law Enforcement Division Instructor training practices and guidelines by Stoneridge Tactical, David Cunningham, and Liz Cunningham, NRA Training Counselor, NRA Instructors, NRA LE Division Instructor, and NLEFIA Advanced Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor.
